An Hour To Kill...

   

The writing prompt from Mama Kat's writer's workshop was: You have an hour to kill on the telephone, who do you call and why?  First of all, I hate talking on the telephone (thank goodness for texting!). Have you ever tried talking on the phone with 4 kids around? Even for brief periods it is next to impossible.  

Sample conversation:

Me: waaawaaawaaa (think Charlie Brown and the sounds the adults made-how do you spell that?)

Beano: Can I have candy?

Me: Just a minute Beano.

Beano: CAN I HAVE CANDY?

Me: In a little bit.

Beano: CAAAN I HAAAAVE CAAANDY???!!!

Me: Sure, go ahead.

Beano: Where is it? 

Me: (sigh)

Anna: Katelyn's eating paper!!!!!!

Me: Well take it out of her mouth.

Katelyn:  WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Anna: I got it!!

Me: I'm going to have to let you go. 

The only person I talk to (on the phone) on an every-other-day basis (besides dear hubby) is my mom. I think these are the only people who I don't feel too bad about the events of WWIII happening in our house.

I'm switching things up a bit.  If I had an hour to kill, what would I do and why? First, I would probably run, but for blogging purposes, let's say I've already had my usual 5a.m. run.   In that case, I would sit on the beach, bury my feet in the sand, and read one of my favorite magazines.  Can you smell the suntan lotion? Can you hear the waves lapping against the beach? Can you see the perfect blue sky with white cottonball clouds above?  And that is why.

P.S. I ran 10 miles today. It took me 90 minutes. It felt GREAT.  Sometimes, some of the best long runs are the unplanned ones.
