If You Really Knew Me...

If you really knew me, you would know that...

I can NOT start my day without a good cup of coffee(sweet and creamy).

My favorite time of day to run is first thing in the morning.

I do NOT like to run in the dark(I'm a chicken, so I go to the Y at 5a.m. and I can't wait until it gets light early).

I LOVE chocolate and Coke(sometimes together).

I sometimes HIDE chocolate and Coke from the kids(and my dear hubby).

I met my husband while working at McDonalds 15 years ago.

I never used to yell when I had just 2 kids. Now that I have 4, I find I have to yell just to be heard over the chaos(I really try not to yell, but sometimes...).

I am my own worst enemy. I am my own toughest critic. I am guilty of having mommy guilt(from yelling at the kids of course).

I don't really like dogs(except the really tiny cute ones you can carry in your purse). It stems from childhood when I was bit by a really big dog(and my ex-stepfather said it was my fault because I was taunting it...what the?).

I HATE a dirty kitchen floor. I sweep after every meal/snack. I can't stand stepping in crumbs/sticky spots/spilled milk spots/mud-from-the-bottom-of-my-dear-hubby's-work-boots-spots. (I just got a new broom last weekend-highlight of the shopping trip, weird huh?).

My favorite T.V. show is Grey's Anatomy. My 2 favorite Christmas movies are "It's a Wonderful Life" and "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation".  My favorite movie of all time is "Tommy Boy".

My biggest fear is losing one of my children.

With every mile I run, I am farther and farther away from the frumpy "plumpkin" I was in various stages of my life (when running fell to the wayside). However, if I don't run, I feel like that inner "plumpkin" is lurking around the corner, waiting for me to stop.

I HATE bananas, but I eat them anyway because they're so darn good for you.

I am NOT the perfect mom, do NOT have a perfect house, am NOT the perfect wife nor do I pretend to be. But my kids are happy (most of the time), as is my dear hubby(we're still together after 15 years-that's something right?), and as for my house-well the kitchen floor is clean!

  1. hi! Found you through Mama Kat's Workshop. Can't wait to read more of your posts. I've never been a runner, but I've lost over 50 pounds since I waddled back into a gym, and now I'm training for a mini triathalon. :)

  2. Love all the National Lampoon's Vacation movies, except for the Vegas one. Clark Griswold and Cousin Eddie can always make me laugh!

  3. Jen.. you crack me up! I am so like you in many ways.. hate bananas, detest a dirty floor (I can't walk around barefoot too!), hide my chocolate and eat all of it and I'm sure not the PERFECT Mom (far from it!). Heck you are doing better than me.. I have 2 kids and I yell! Only thing is I don't run (I Zumba).. I can't even make it to our street corner.. and I love dogs but we have the sweetest love bug of a dog on earth. Great meeting you and great post!

  6. I wear slippers year round in my kitchen because I can't stand stepping in stuff! I used to be an avid runner--I've run 5 marathons. Still struggling to get back into it. Looks like you are a fellow Minnesotan. Stopping by from Mama Kat's.
