The magical swimming pool
All winter long
We yearn for those days,
The hot summer days
The lazy days to play.
You keep us so cool
as we swim in the pool.
Though the sand is a drag
and makes my son gag
(when he sucks his thumb covered with sand).
We still return for the beach-like feel
Putting oodles of sunscreen on so we don't peel.
The thin mamas and fat
all join on their mats
they all close their eyes
and ignore their kids' cries.
The lifeguards blow whistles from their chairs so high
No running, no throwing, no chicken fighting!
I glare at the big kids, (not my own)
No splashing my baby, I don't need her crying!
Such cheap fun to be had
At the pool we're all glad.
They play catch, build sandcastles, do canonballs and tricks
As I watch from the side, each swim, twirl, and kick.
Hours fly by
And soon we'll have to go
Back another day
To swim, build, and lay.
