That's right, blogging 2 days in a row, although now I know why I don't blog when all the kids are around. So far I have changed a poopy diaper, fished a boxelder bug out of a baby's mouth, broken up a fight, and cleaned up a milk spill. Anyways, I didn't run today, I did the elliptical machine because I am reading a great book, so I read while doing the elliptical. I went 6.5 miles in 50 minutes on resistance level 8. Not a bad workout. Tomorrow I am getting all Christmas cookie supplies, and I have a shopping list made out for gifts. Still need to figure out the Christmas cards...
Katelyn pulled herself up in a standing position today, and just looked at me and grinned, while I was thinking to myself, "Holy crap, I'm in trouble". I skipped a day of laundry yesterday, and my pile was so big today, Beano was using it as a slide. "Look at me, mama, I'm sliding down the dirty clothes!"

Dropping the Ball...
Was it really October when I last posted?? Holy crap, well this is just one of the many balls that I'm juggling that has fallen. So much has happened in such a short amount of time. I will begin with my running. The weather has turned cold, dark, and ugly, bringing my running indoors to treadmills. I don't really mind running on a treadmill, although it does take a little more planning to make it to the Y. So, I have been successfully going at 5:15 am, Monday through Friday...until last week when Katelyn's sleeping schedule changed. She has always gotten up once at night, but starting last Monday she has decided to wake at 5:15, the exact time I am already running on my treadmill, so you guessed it, that forced Phil to get up. The first day I thought it was a fluke, the second day, Phil banned me from anymore early morning trips until Katelyn was sleeping again. So this leaves me to go at
8 pm, when the kids go to bed. Of course I would rather go early, when my energy is high, but at night the place is deserted and I can run as many miles as I want. My daily runs are from 6 to 7 miles, four to five days a week.
We had Halloween, which was a blast. The kids each got 5 lbs of candy, yes I weighed it, and yes I ate a lot of it! We had conferences for Jake and Anna. Now get ready for some bragging. Jake's teacher said it is "unheard of that a 2nd grader get E's on their report card", but he had almost ALL E's! Awesome! She said she wished she could have a class full of Jacob's, and that when they have a sub she gives Jacob's name for any questions. And no, he's not a nerd, or a teacher's pet, the other kids look to him as a "quiet leader". And he's nice to even the naughty kids. He and one other girl are the only kids that have gotten all 100%'s on their weekly spelling tests. What an awesome kid! And Anna is just as good a student as Jacob. Her teacher also gives Anna's name to subs for questions. She is a very big helper in class, and is sooo close to reading. One big surprise is she's shy in front of the whole class, like for show-and-tell. She has a best friend named Madison, who is so similar in looks, that people get them confused all the time! They are so cute together, and Anna told me today she "doesn't want to bring her lunch because she doesn't get to sit by Madison on those days, she has to sit by the mean girls".
Katelyn now has 6 teeth!! She has had no break, they just keep coming right after another. She is crawling like a maniac, following me everywhere saying "mama", and it's a demanding "mama!!". She sits up from her belly, and eats paper, lots and lots of paper. The kids call her "paper-eater".
Beano is just sweet little Beano. I asked him for his Christmas list and he says, "just surprise me!". He is so sweet, except when he's not, and he beats on Anna because she teases him, or knocks Jake in the skull because he is mad at him. At least they have stopped playing All-Star Wrestling BEFORE school. Oh boy, I told them I was going to hire someone to come and get them ready for school so I wouldn't have to do it. Mornings have gotten much better since then.
Thanksgiving came and went, but the day AFTER Thanksgiving is the day we all look forward to the most. We put up our Christmas tree, and all the decorations. We stay in our pj's until noon, and that evening we go to the Christmas fireworks.
Now on to Christmas, and I realize all the shopping I haven't done yet, the cookies that still need to be baked, a good picture or two for the Christmas cards, oh dear. Deep breath, it WILL all get done, however, the cards might not come until Christmas Eve, the cookies will be the freshest they have ever been, and I bet I'll get in on the REALLY good sales of the season!
P.S. Dear Nike, I still miss my old running shoes...
