Running is my Super Power

I ran in a 5K on Saturday.

It was cold and rainy and miserable weather.

My family dropped me off and yelled "Good luck running, Mama!". And I choked back tears as I jumped out of the truck because yes, I am that kind of a person.

We lined up at the start, and the announcer said, "All competitive runners to the front"...and I moved to the front because I was feeling competitive and fast and maybe a little stupid.

On your marks, get set, go!

And I never looked back.

My brain was thinking I might have started too fast, but my body told my brain to just shut-up already, you've got this.

And after that, I don't remember thinking about anything except the run; the pure magic of it; the feeling of pure bliss. I get to be a runner and it is amazing and empowering and magnificent. Yeah, I get high when I run.

I crossed the finish line faster than I ever have before. Twenty-two minutes, forty-five seconds. I finished in 21st place.

And then I sprinted a couple miles away to my where my family was waiting for me as my oldest son played in his first soccer game. I made it just in time for the second half.

The race was almost completely forgotten; but the magical, super-power feelings of that run are still with me.

Bare Feet and the Wind in the Willow Tree

We've had two bare feet weather days this week.

Pure delight, if you ask me.

Her bare feet are so much prettier than mine.

We found a goose egg at the park today. It's so sad, I told my husband. Just a part of nature, he said. And I know that it is, but try explaining what's inside that never-to-be-hatched egg to a 5 year old.

The willow trees are green and gorgeous and willowy and my 5 year old asked if we could go see the wind in the willow trees. Of course I said yes being that they are my favorite tree and all

I always tried to swing on their branches when I was a kid too

I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Happy Things

Kate's pretty, pretty pigtails

Beautiful flowers

Brothers that make you laugh so hard you cry and remembering all the trouble you used to get into as kids; and then overhearing your mom say, those two made quite the pair when they were younger.

Sister bonding time

Birthday parties for two year olds (and telling the kids I won't be throwing another birthday party  for them ever again because of their horrendous behavior the morning of, only to later start planning the boys' birthday party in my head).

Ducks. I will always remember my baby at this exact age whenever I see a duck and it will always make me smile.

Sunshine

My kids doing their homework the minute they get home from school.

Popsicles

My camera.

Happy Birthday, Katelyn

Happy 2 year Birthday...you sparkle so bright...

So very sweet and SO very loud...

My outdoor sweetheart, shoes on the wrong feet, last one to come in and first to go out.

Wild, curly hair, with streaks of red,

matching your personality.

Hating baths and loving music...

dancing often and singing true.

Her demands are...

demanding...

everyone wrapped around her tiny little finger and her huge heart.

Our surprise little miracle...

I couldn't imagine life without you.

Happy Birthday, baby.
Welcome to your terrific two's.

Easter Picture Mishaps...

I just kept snapping in the hopes that just one would be a framer.

Definitely framing #4...at least they all look happy.

Uninspired

1 It's gray and rainy and windy around here today and the comma button doesn't work on my keyboard which is messed up

2 The period button only works sometimes and the caps button has been sticking so i have to hold the shift button down when i type

3 it could be that my husband spilled on the keyboard

4 he owes me a new one

5 who knew you could replace the keyboard on a laptop?
good thing he"s brainy

7 remember running down hills like this when you were a kid?

8 Bridges sometimes freak me out

9 i don"t  have a lot to say today

10 which is good because of the whole keyboard incident

11 blue is my favorite color

jake asked me who my favorite kid was again the other day
i told him whoever gives me the most chocolate and hugs

we visited my dad and step-mom in nebraska over easter weekend

we had such a good time
but the time goes so fast
